Curro Protea Glen showcases school programmes and facilities

Curro Protea Glen hosted its open day, inviting prospective parents, existing parents and learners on September 12.

The event saw attendees enjoy a range of activities, including games, interacting with one another, food stalls and other entertainment.

Prospective parents were also given information about the school and the opportunities it offers learners, as well as an opportunity to learn more about the school’s programmes and facilities.

Speaking to Urban News, Curro Protea Glen foundation phase head Rose Khanyile described the open day as a special event that gave parents an opportunity to explore the school.

She said what makes bringing a child to Curro Protea Glen special is that classes have a maximum of 35 learners, giving teachers an opportunity to reach and support each child individually.

“Kids are different and unique, and they need special attention, which includes one-on-one time with teachers. Our numbers allow us to do that. When it comes to our curriculum, we plan individual lessons that focus on and target each and every learner in the classroom,” she said.

She added that the school uses specialised teaching techniques, noting that it would be a great privilege for children to be part of the Curro family.

Prospective parent Nombifuthi Gwele said the open day was both enjoyable and informative, adding that her nephew is going to Grade Eight.

“We had a tour around the school and saw that it is a nice school with beautiful classrooms and a therapeutic environment. We were also given an opportunity to visit the science lab and see where the children conduct science experiments.

“We also visited the robotics classes. My boy can’t wait to start school,” she said.
