Diepkloof Ladies FC edges past Royalty Ladies FC 1-0
The win earned Diepkloof Ladies FC three valuable points.
Diepkloof Ladies FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Royalty Ladies in their Johannesburg Football Association Women’s Regional League match held at Shapa Nike Soweto sports ground on April 27.
The first half saw both teams battling for dominance, with neither able to find the back of the net until Neo Jaxa scored a crucial goal for Diepkloof Ladies.
Despite Royalty Ladies’ best efforts, they could not equalise in the second half. Diepkloof Ladies defence held strong, and the team managed to maintain their lead.

Lungile Mhlanga, Royalty Ladies coach said, “I am disappointed that we lost 1-0, and the goal they scored was questionable since it seemed to involve the ball being kicked into the goalkeeper’s hands.
Nonetheless, we accept the defeat. My players are new to the field, and they will improve over time as they become more familiar with teams that have been playing together longer.
“The game should have been easier, but we made it challenging by matching the opponent’s strength. We train three days per week, and during the practice, we execute everything correctly.
“During games, most players panic. Moving forward, we will focus on addressing our mistakes so that we don’t repeat them,” said Lethabo Goodman, Diepkloof Ladies coach.

According to Neo Jaxa, the match was easy but they made it difficult by wasting scoring opportunities. “I think we would have played better if we worked together as a team.”
