Star Warriors edge Hotspurs in U11 Soweto showdown
Junior Maluleke’s goal proved decisive when the Star Warriors FC beat the Chiawela Hotspurs FC 1-0.
The Star Warriors FC faced Chiawela Hotspurs at the Dlamini central sports ground in their Soweto Southern Football League U11 game on May 10.
The match was closely contested, with both teams putting in a valiant effort.
The first half was challenging for both sides, with neither gaining a clear advantage. However, the Star Warriors FC broke the deadlock when Junior Maluleke scored the first goal.

Both teams continued to fight hard in the second half, but neither could add to the scoreline. Despite their best efforts, the Chiawela Hotspurs players could not find the net, and the Star Warriors FC held on to their lead.
The final score of 1-0 saw the Star Warriors FC claim victory. The win will boost their confidence as they look to continue their success in the league.

Sifiso Madondo, the Chiawela Hotspurs coach, said, “Our players lacked concentration and combination play in the first half.
But they tried to fight back in the second half, creating more scoring chances, although they couldn’t capitalise on them.
As coaches, we understand our players are still young, and we must guide them in the right direction. Our focus now is to teach them to enjoy the game and develop their skills.”

“The game was not easy, but we appreciate the win. I still need to teach my players how to trap and pass effectively so they don’t miss scoring chances in future games like they did in this game.
“We need more training to help them develop their skills and get used to these situations,” said Phathutshedzo Mudau, the coach of the Star Warriors FC.
