The final cooking and hospitality courses for anyone interested in entering the industry will be held in October and November.

Four week cooking course:

The last cooking course for this year will be starting on Saturday morning, November 2.

As usual the classes are hands-on, which means that the students will be cooking everything themselves under instruction.

A few of the dishes cooked will be a vegetarian lasagne; a delicious spicy Shepherd’s Pie; a chicken and leek pie and a number of different summer recipes.

They will also cover a number of basic cooking theory aspects, such as the correct preparation of different sauces; the correct methods of food storage; handling of different meats; correct measurement techniques; etc. Anyone with a keen interest in cooking is welcome to attend.

Eight week catering and hospitality course:

Due to its popularity, there will be one more course this year.

Registration will be on Saturday, October 26 and will start on the November 2.

This intensive hands-on course is both fun and highly informative and beneficial for anyone thinking of making food and beverage or the hospitality industry their career.

This course includes the following subjects: function administration; function organization; staff organization; sanitation and safety; the menu – pricing and styles; the importance of standardized recipes; determining standard food and beverage costs for menu items; how to price individual menu items; stock control – purchasing and receiving; storing and issuing; food and beverage – food knowledge and light beverages; basic table setting and napkin folding; advertising and marketing; business plans and four lessons of hands-on practical cooking and baking skills.
