Soweto Open Market Day to boost local businesses at Phiri Grounds

Residents of Soweto can look forward to a vibrant day of shopping, entertainment and community engagement as local entrepreneurs prepare to showcase their businesses at the upcoming Soweto open market day.
The event is set to take place on June 6, at the Phiri Grounds on Mabalane Street, also known as 5 Star.
Speaking to Urban News, Soweto Open Market organiser Thato Ntisa said the purpose of the initiative is to create a platform where local businesses, creatives and entrepreneurs can market and sell their products and services while connecting with the community.

She added that the platform aims to promote economic empowerment, networking and community support.
“The market will feature a wide variety of products and services, including food, fashion, skincare, cleaning products, handmade items, accessories, wellness products and much more. There will also be entertainment and a kids’ area for families,” she said.
Ntisa highlighted that the Soweto Open Market offers community members an opportunity to get involved by booking stalls, forming partnerships, sponsoring initiatives, attending the event and promoting the platform.
She said the initiative continues to create opportunities for vendors, organisations and local residents to grow and connect.
