The ultimate salute to teen heroes in the communities for their active participation in transforming local community centers in Soweto, Orange Farm, Kagiso and other parts of South Africa.
The announcement of the Coca-Cola Rockcorps platform a part of a global youth movement and pilot project made possible by Coca-Cola South Africa has seen thousands of teens come together and share happiness by dedicating their time to uplift their local communities.
From painted murals bursting with colour, to restoration, ground clean-ups, the planting trees and much more this initiative has not only left behind a trail of smiles but has further succeeded in exposing young people to simple ways in which they can proactively contribute to greater good as well as recognizing them and rewarding them in the process for their positive social activism.
Brand manager Coca-Cola South Africa Thuso Moema said Coca-Cola South Africa has a rich heritage in the country and is part of many community projects.
“We are committed to improving community livelihoods through various programmes focusing on women and the youth.
“Our partnership with Rockcorps also gives us the opportunity to promote the culture of giving and doing well for others and the community,” he said.
International artist Ciara said she is excited to come to perform for thousands of volunteers who gave their time to uplifting their communities.
“Using my music to empower young people to reach their potential is what I usually do.
Moema said the thyme of this project is to inspire young people to get engage in their communities and drive youth movement.
“Teens between the ages of 13 to 19, from over 150 schools across the country will come together to participate in the project.
“Following the initial recycling and environmental awareness prequalification programme those who have made it through need only give four hours of their time to community service for ultra-exclusive access to an unforgettable signature Coca-Cola concert featuring a phenomenal line-up of international music icons,” said Moema.
Moema said tickets to the main concert cannot be bought or won, tickets can only be earned through commitment and active participation in social action.
International artists Ciara and Busta Rhymes have been confirmed and will be performing live in Johannesburg on November 16 exclusively for community teens heroes who have rolled up their sleeves and done their bit to make a real difference.
