Recovering addicts give back

Recovering addicts from Crystal Sharing Without Shame gave back to the community of Slovo Park on Friday as part of their recovery.

“Our recovering addicts are serving the community as it is an opportunity for the community to see them in a different light,” Dereleen James from the organisation said.

They fed over 1500 people, gave bread, soup and clothing.

Youth also had a play where an addict was reformed through friends and church.

Rameez Bidderson who is clean for over 90 days said his life became unmanageable while using drugs but is now trying to be a better person.

“I feel like I brought hope to this community because I can see the smile on their faces,” Bidderson said.

As part of their recovery, recovering addicts they clean selected sites in each extension in Eldorado Park and grow and maintain vegetables.
