Soweto spaza shop owners urged to attend SASTA annual general meeting

Local traders are encouraged to attend the South African Spaza and Tuckshop Association AGM to discuss business needs, compliance support and improvements following the recent trade fair.

The South African Spaza and Tuckshop Association (Sasta) is calling all spaza shop and tuckshop owners in Soweto to attend its AGM at the Kopanong Hall, Soweto, from 09:00 to 16:30 on February 27.

The purpose is for local small business owners, specifically spaza and tuckshop operators, to voice the changes they would like to see, the support they need and expect, and the improvements the Sasta can provide.

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to share how they benefited from the Sasta Trade Fair.

The Sasta was founded in 2000 to help black entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses.

It also supports youth entrepreneurship amid high unemployment and helps small businesses establish and maintain operations by providing education through various sector education and training authorities and assisting with compliance documentation for access to government funding.

Rose Nkosi, the founder of the Sasta and the president of Pavement Stalls, said, “We call upon locals to join us for a transformative session. We will all benefit as small business owners in Soweto.”
