Coding and robotics club launch empowers young learners
Panarottis and iSchoolAfrica launched a coding and robotics club at Hlakaniphani Primary School to give primary learners foundational digital, coding, and problem-solving skills, bridging the technology gap in under-resourced schools.
Panarottis and iSchool Africa launched an iSchoolAfrica coding and robotics club at Hlakaniphani Primary School (HPS) in Dlamini, Soweto, on February 11.
The club will equip the learners with foundational digital, coding and problem-solving skills and increase access to quality digital education in under-resourced schools by introducing coding and computational thinking at an early stage.

Michelle Lissoos, the director of iSchoolAfrica, said they aim to bring the best technology to learners in local communities.
‘’Through the programme, learners will get to be problem-solvers and innovators while having fun.

We believe in bringing quality education to our communities, and that is moving with the digital times, hence the programme. We hope that one day we will use an app created by one of the learners from the school,’’ said Lissoos.
“Our learners are excited, motivated and eager to learn. For many, this is their first experience using technology in this way. I am excited to see them thrive through exposure to such world-class technology,” said principal Shonisani Nengwekhulu.
The COO of Panarottis, Cornelis Schutte, told the Urban News that beyond serving great meals, they are about nourishing communities and creating meaningful opportunities.
He added, ‘’As part of this commitment, we are investing in the next generation by helping bridge the digital divide.

Through our partnership with iSchoolAfrica, we fund coding and robotics programmes for children aged seven to 12 in under-resourced schools.’’
The programme encourages learner engagement and teacher empowerment.
HPS teachers are trained to confidently deliver coding and robotics lessons using iPads and Apple’s Everyone Can Code curriculum, while learners develop logical thinking, collaboration skills and an early understanding of how technology could solve real-world problems.
