Filling bellies for Mandela Day
In celebration of Mandela Day, Jabu Shabalala and her friends gave back to the children by organising food to be served to them in Welgedacht on Saturday.

Jabu and her friends Hlengiwe Ngwena, Patrica Mathebula, Pinky Mathibela and Mongezi Ngomane often donate clothes to charity and decided in this cold weather, to serve some warm food to the children living in the area.
The community centre in Second Avenue in Welgedacht, run by Elsie de Cock, has been open to the community for 12 years.
“I spoke to my boss Kristen Ellinas who agreed to sponsor the food that we are giving the children today, ” said Jabu on Saturday.
“We serve food here regularly. The children who come here are not all necessarily poor children who don’ t get food, but they need the attention from us that they don’t get at home,” said Elsie.
