Road closed due to accident

The stretch of road on the Paul Kruger Highway between the Hospital Road crossing and the Connaught Road crossing was closed off in both directions on July 17 at around 8am after an accident occurred.

According to Thabiso Makgato of the media and PR department at the EMPD, a Mercedes sedan and a Toyota hatchback were involved in the accident.

An official on the scene said that the driver of the Toyota who was travelling on the Paul Kruger Highway towards the N12 onramp allegedly lost control of the car and rolled over the grass island and hit a Mercedes on the driver’s side of the car.

The Toyota then came to a stand still on it’s roof.

“Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Life Springs Parkland Clinic,” says Makgato.

Traffic was diverted in both directions by EMPD officers until the accident could be cleared.
