Robbers in police uniform

Five armed men, dressed in police uniforms, robbed a supermarket in Bakerton on August 8.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, three brothers were still in their shop at 6:45pm, in First Avenue when the five robbers entered.

Two of the robbers identified themselves as policemen and claimed to be there to search for drugs.

“The two so-called policemen identified themselves with fake police IDs,” says Capt Ramphora.

The three brothers were assaulted and robbed of eight cellphones, airtime and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbers made their getaway in a silver Hyundai Tucson.

No shots were fired and no arrests have been made.
