He took part in the annual Semas Abacus Maths at the Bedfordview/Johannesburg East Regional Competition.
According to his mother Tihani, Tihan was also chosen to take part in the National Competition on October 12.
This competition will take place in Roodepoort, where about 450 children from all over Southern Africa will compete.
“Tihan won the math championships on Kyu 10 level, a Japanese term used in academic tests and other similar activities to designate various grades, levels or class of proficiency or experience,” adds Tihani.
The winner of the nationals will go overseas to compete on international level.
