Serving the community

New Era Scrap makes a difference in the community by providing food to their clients and staff.

“Monday to Friday we give them soup and bread and on Friday they get hot dogs and coffee,” says owner Tutti Meadon.

A regular supplier of recyclable material is Martin Ngwenya from Overline, who says Tutti treats them well and looks out for them.

“She is a very good woman,” says Martin, whose only income is the scrap he collects.

Some of the clients, who do not wish to be named, say she also gives them medical care if necessary.

Even the children get sweets when they join their parents on delivery days.

“This is a challenge to all other businesses to make a difference in the community,” concludes Tutti.
