November is Prematurity Awareness Month and the Ruth Mailbag Group will mark the occasion by collecting clothes and blankets for premature infants.
“Wear purple on World Premature Day, November 17, to show your support and spread the word about the dangers of premature birth,” says Group founder Joy Coetzee.
Most of the premature babies born at the Far East Rand Hospital do not have any clothing, blankets or toiletries and the Group is collecting these goods especially for them.
“Your gift helps provide comfort and support to families with a baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the hospital,” says Joy.
If you can knit, crochet or sew, then join the Group and send your finished items to the Far East Rand Hospital or contact social worker Jacobé Botha on 011 812 8330 or jacobie.botha@gauteng.gov.za.
