Trade Centre community day
Trade Centre held their annual pre-meeting for their 'Stokvel' last weekend for the buy in groups who gathered for a day of meeting and greeting.
Community members get a group together and pay in money every month to Trade Centre. At the end of the year, the group then chooses stock from the store and gets a bulk amount of products to take back home.
The pre-event is a meet and greet for Trade Centre and the product suppliers to meet the community and tell them how the Stokvel for the year will work.
Community members get to try samples of some of the products as well as enjoying a complementary lunch laid on by Trade Centre.
“We had a bigger turnout than expected, which is a great thing. We were expecting about 500 people and there were over 800 at the event,” says Mike Goodhead of Trade Centre in Springs.
Mike says the community take the food they get from the Stokvel back to their homelands and it lasts them up to five months.
