Delicious creations

The Springs branch of the Cake Decorators Guild of South Africa recently donated cakes to 8 different charities in and around Springs.

“Every branch of the Guild must do at least one thing for charity each year,” says chairman of the Springs branch Elizabeth Wilkens.

Usually, the Springs branch bakes biscuits for old age homes, but this year they decided to to something different. They chose 8 different charities in the area and baked and decorated Christmas cakes, of which each charity received one.

These were given to the representatives of the charities at a handing over event. The charities will be able to auction or raffle the cakes at their own events and will use the money made from that towards their causes.

The charities that received cakes from the guild are Vita Nova, Springs, Nigel and Brakpan SPCA, St. Michael’s Presbyterian Church, Murial Brand School, Rotary Club Brakpan branch and Esda Retirement Village.
