Pedestrian killed on N17 Highway
A 57 year old man was killed after being knocked down while he was walking on the N17 highway last Tuesday.

According to ER24 spokesman Vanessa Jackson, witnesses say the man was walking along the highway when a VW Golf collided with him. He was flung onto the windshield and then the roof of the car before he crashed down onto the road.
On the way to the hospital, paramedics had to try revive the man, whose heart stopped beating.
“They managed to stabilise him but he deteriorated two more times and they wheeled him into hospital while performing CPR but despite their efforts, they had to declare him dead at the hospital,” says Jackson.
The female driver of the Golf was left with minor injuries but she was in a state of severe shock and she had pieces of glass all over her. Another ambulance service who was on scene transported the woman to a nearby hospital for further care.
“While en route to hospital with their patient, a bystander drove past the scene where paramedics were busy stabilising the pedestrian and explained that the ambulance that was transporting the woman had crashed into another vehicle. Fortunately, no one had been further injured in the low impact collision and they could proceed to hospital with the injured woman,” said Jackson.
Local police are still investigating all relevant details surrounding this collision and events leading up to the death of the pedestrian.
