Parkland Clinic gives back
Each year Life Parkland Clinic selects one school to support through the year and this year it was the turn of Protea School.
The hospital identifies a school at the beginning of each year by seeing what their needs are and how the hospital can help.
This year, they found that Protea School’s needs were the most urgent.
“We did fundraising throughout the year for the school and decided that, at this time of year as the children are going home, we wanted to give them some food for the December holidays, as most of them are poor,” says organiser Modiegi Mthabela.
The school gave Life Parkland Clinic a list of 24 needy children from the school and the clinic then put together food packages for them.
“Each ward also collected money to buy a Christmas present for each of the 24 children,” says Modiegi.
