
A murder took place in Gugulethu/Everest on Saturday.
A man was found lying on his back in his house in Dingshwayo Street at 8:30am.
Springs Police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the police arrived on the scene and found a man with a bullet wound on the left hand side of his chest.
Emergency services’ paramedics arrived on the scene and declared him dead.
It is alleged he was at home when two men arrived and they were arguing over money when a gunshot was heard.
“The man who heard the gunshot entered the house and found the man on the floor next to his bed,” says Capt Ramphora.
* A man was on his way to work from Gugulethu/Everest at 7:45pm, on Saturday when he was approached by a man from behind who ordered him to lie down.
Capt Ramphora says the victim was walking down East Geduld Road when this happened.
He tried to turn around to see if he can identify the person, when he was shot on the right side of his chest.
“The shooter ran away and the victim tried to chase him, but due to the wound in his chest he had to stop,” adds Capt Ramphora.
He was taken to a nearby hospital.
* On Friday while a woman and her friend were waiting at a bus stop two men joined them.
At 6:20am, at the bus stop in Hospital Road, Krugersrus, one woman’s phone rang and after she finished the conversation, one of the men pulled out a knife and the other a firearm.
“They demanded the cellphone and after it was given to them, they ran away,” says Capt Ramphora.
No shots were fired.
* A business robbery took place on Sunday at 2pm.
According to Capt Ramphora three armed men entered a shop in Fifth Avenue, Springs CBD and ordered the man behind the counter to lie down.
The three robbers took cigarette cartons, an Echo DVD player and Red Bull cans and left the shop.
No shots were fired.
