Rain ruins the day

Springs Old Boys Premier side played against Kwathema on Sunday in their last game for the year which ended in a draw due to the rain.

The Premier side captain, Warren Woolley, won the toss and decided to bat first.

The first 12 overs were extremely difficult as Warren and Dalton Smallberger opened the batting and battled it out trying to survive.

After 16 overs the Premier batsmen were more relaxed and confident, scoring runs freely. Their leading runs scorer, Dalton, made a solid 37 runs seeing out the new ball. Wickus Germishuizen scored another fantastic 50 before getting stumped off a spin bowler.

And then their big hitting machine, Dylan Smallberger, scored an incredible 96 runs, hitting big sixes and plenty of fours, getting run out on the second-last ball of the innings trying to run 2 runs and face the last ball to hit his century. Yet another smashing performance from Dylan!

The match ended on a massive total of 314 runs losing 6 wickets after 50 runs.

After lunch the teams saw a lot of dark clouds building up and after 3 overs of play in the 2nd innings the rain came down hard and spoiled their game as the Premier side would have had an easy win and full points in the bag.

The match then ended in a draw and the teams shared points.
