Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, says the man went outside at around 8am, and walked to his car which was parked in a driveway in Ramona Street, Selcourt.
Three armed men opened fire and the man shot back at them.
“He claims he hit one of them, but it is not sure as we have contacted the hospitals, but no patient was treated at any hospital for a bullet wound,” says Cpt Ramphora.
The three armed men ran away from the scene.
The man was taken the N17 hospital.
