Petronella Steynvaardt donates her 100th unit
Petronella Steynfaardt, a Petersfield resident, started donating blood when she was 20 years old.
Now, 33 years later, Petronella has donated her 100th unit of blood.
She donated the blood at the blood bank in The Avenues Shopping Centre.
Nurse, Juliana Visser laughs and says, “Yes, she’s been a regular here for a while.”
Steynvaardt first started donating blood after she was diagnosed with high blood pressure.
Her doctor told her that donating blood would help with the relief of the disorder.
According to Steynvaardt, she doesn’t even need to take pills for her high blood pressure.
“I feel better after I donate, I stop getting headaches and feeling shaky.”
Steynvaardt says that she will continue to donate blood until she can’t donate anymore.
She currently donates blood whenever she can, which is every 56 days.
