Siobheanne Landsberg, a prominent member of the Springs community, due to her long-time affiliation to the Springs Rotaract Club, has become an asset to Springs.
After 13 years of being part of the Springs Rotaract Club, Siobheanne, along with her husband, Dean, has been inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Springs.
She became involved in Rotaract in 2001 when she was part of the re-chartering of Springs Rotaract Club.
Rotaract stands for Rotary in Action and is part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world, by engaging young professionals to action community-based initiatives.
Rotaractors get a chance to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Their efforts begin at local level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs.
As a programme of Rotary International, Rotaract clubs work under the guidance of their local Rotary club.
Rotaract members are fun, enthusiastic and active young men and women aged between 18 and 30.
Membership of this club provides opportunities to meet new people, try new activities and make a difference in the local community.
Over the years, Springs Rotaract Club took on many projects such as bingo at old age homes, toiletry gift packs for ESDA residents, library at Esda Frail Care and much more.
“I believe that everyone needs to get involved in their communities. Even just with making a small difference. Springs is our town and we need to take care of it and be the source of inspiration to others,” says Siobheanne. Over the years Siobheanne served in various portfolios at district level including procom director, secretary and group representative in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 to 2009 she was elected as the District Rotaract Representative.
Her involvement stretches all the way through to 2014.
Now Siobheanne is starting her new adventure as a fully fledged Rotarian and hopes to make even more of a difference within her community.
Any person who is interested in joining, whether it be Rotaract, Interact or even Rotary, is asked to make contact with her.
“The more the merrier.”
