Springs gets its own cancer support group
Cancer patients and their families can look forward to join a support group soon
Springs is proud to announce the town is getting its first cancer support group.
The cancer Support Group Springs will be launched on Women’s Day at 9.30am for 10am, at the Springs Rugby Club.
Refreshments will be served on the day.
Tutti Meadon, one of the group members, says, the reason why cancer is spelled with a small c means “we can beat cancer”.
The idea started when a group of 13 women, mostly from Springs, got together and exchanges ideas.
It was during one of these meetings that they realised there is a huge need for a support group in Springs.
Some of the women in the group are cancer survivors and remembered the support they and their families needed.
“The idea is not only to support the patient, but also their families, even if it means one of us must go with while the patient gets therapy or treatment,” says Tutti.
The group is soon to be registered at a Non Profitable Organisation.
