Two murder cases were opened at the Springs police station on Friday after a man and woman died in separate incidents.
The first incident took place shortly after midnight on Friday when a woman was found dead on Lusaka Street, Welgedacht.
Cpt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman of Springs SAPS says it is believed the woman was on her way to work in Sundra when she sustained four gunshot wounds that caused her death.
The paramedics on the scene declared her dead.
The other murder case was opened when Springs SAPS went to Molefe Road in Payneville at 9:33pm, also on Friday.
Ramphora says the police found a man lying on his back on the ground on the side of the street.
He was allegedly killed in a fist fight.
One of the men who allegedly assaulted him was pointed out by the crowd at the scene and was immediately arrested.
The police are searching for a second man who allegedly participated in the fight.
