During the Addie’s visit to this municipal swimming pool, accompanied by Dean Stone, ward councillor of Ward 75, on Wednesday afternoon we discovered that the pool was filled halfway with green water.
The visit revealed that thieves stole the swimming pool pumps’ steel covers and trimmings, as well as strainer boxes and chemical boxes about two weeks ago.
The pool’s manager was busy filling the pool and cleaning the water for the new season when thugs managed, during the night, to steal the components of the pumps.
The thieves, according to officials working at the pool, gained entrance through a door at the back of the pump station.
The officials of Ekurhuleni Metro that work at the swimming pool, could not supply an exact date and time of the theft.
* The Selection Park Swimming Pool also did not open, because Ekurhuleni Metro is still fixing it. The Addie did ask questions about when it would be open and is awaiting the metro’s answers.
