Transnet Community Centre’s charity day
Underpriveliged childred received food hampers yesterday (October 15) at the Transnet Community Centre in Bakerton.
With October being Transport Month, Peter Pelele, the Springs site project manager, made learners from Payneville Primary School aware of road safety.
Sarah Govender recently approached Peter and asked if she could assist him with his task.
Peter says her request to donate food parcels to the learners in memory of her late husband George Govender who was a well-known businessman in Welgedacht, is well appreciated.
The almost 116 learners each received a food hamper, a cold drink and an apple.
Peter says a local business donated the apples.
These children have to cross the busy Welgedacht Road, to go to school everyday and Peter works closely with the school to teach them about road safety.
