Basic assessment of siding needs input

Residents have to scrutinize this report.

There is time until November 10 for residents and people of  interest to provide input to and comments about the proposed Welgedacht Coal Railway Siding.

Ukhosi Environmentalists, the environmental company that is doing the environmental assessments on the siding, completed the final basic assessment report (BAR).

Matthew Wiese of Ukhosi Environmentalists says this report provides details on the potential impact that the proposed siding may have on the environment.

The residents’ comments made during the basic assessment (BA) public participation process have been recorded in the comments and response report.

He says this BAR was submitted to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) on October 10 for a 30-day authority review and decision period, where the community has a chance to scrutinise the report.

Call Wiese on 012 665 2471 if you want to view the report.
