What about our Blesbokspruit?

I wonder how "safe" this treated acid mine water will be?

I read with horror and disgust about the new plant that will treat acid mine water.

And I wonder how this “safe” water, treated or not, will change the face of our beloved Blesbokspruit.

I remembered I previously read in the Addie that the whole Blesbokspruit ecology changed from a seasonal stream to a set of knee-high ponds after the previous discharge of mine water into the spruit.

What will become of the plants and bird life now?

Are we not making a mockery of the idea of having this, a Ramsar site, on our doorstep?

The question is who decided that this plant must be erected in Springs?

The other big question is where will this plant’s waste go to?

The residents who are living close to Blesbokspruit will have this waste dump on their doorstep forever.

Green Fingers.
