House in Eastvale robbed

A 20-year-old man was alone at home in Eastvale at 11.30am, when he heard a noise at the front door.

Two robbers were allegedly trying to break down the front door of a house in Drakenstein Road.

The man allegedly tried to unlock the back door to escape, but the two robbers, who broke down the front door, caught up with him.

The robbers threatened him with a screwdriver and asked for the safe.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the robbers locked the man in the wardrobe of the main bedroom.

They took two TVs, a laptop and TV games.

The man managed to escape from the cupboard and saw the men driving away in a white CX16 Volvo.

Ramphora says the police tried to trace the vehicle, but was not successful.
