A 78-year-old woman’s house window smashed

The Springs police reacted a phonecall yesterday (December 9) of a house robbery in Selection Park.

When they arrived they found the house of the 78-year-old woman has been robbed and the lounge window smashed.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the woman was working upstairs in her house at 12.10pm, when she heard the noise of glass breaking.

She went downstairs to investigate and heard a voice saying “take her”.

Ramphora says the woman allegedly ran upstairs and locked herself in the bathroom.

She heard the sound of her car starting, opened the bathroom door and went downstairs to investigate.

It was then that she saw the lounge window was smashed.

It is believed there were two robbers and they took jewellery.

The robbers drove off in the woman’s car.

NO arrests have been made.
