Springs SAPS detectives arrested a 38-year-old unemployed man this morning for manufacturing crack cocaine after three weeks of observation.
Spokesman for the Springs police Captain Johannes Ramphora says the investigation started when the police received information about possible drug manufacturing at a house in Dal Fouche.
The detectives went to the house last night and started questioning the suspect, who denied the allegations.
After being questioned the suspect claimed he was manufacturing soap.
In the garage the police found a motor and several drums of various ingredients such as methylated spirits used by the suspect for manufacturing the crack cocaine.

Ramphora says the detectives worked through the night to search for the drugs and found several places in the garden where the finished product was buried.
In one of the holes they found packets of crack cocaine, plastic packets used for packaging purposes, and a cellphone.
According to Ramphora they also found 15 cellphones, a camera, and cash on the premises.
The police investigation is not complete as they still have to establish where and who the crack cocaine was distributed to.
According to one of the suspect’s neighbours they noticed a lot of people visited the house, but didn’t pay much attention.
Ramphora says he is proud of the detectives who dedicated their time and worked through the night.
It is not yet known what the street value of the drugs is or how much money was found on the premises.
The suspect was taken to the Springs police cells where he will remain until his court appearance.
