Vehicle stolen in 2013 recovered by police

Suspects couldn't provide proof of purchase of TVs in their possession.

A vehicle stolen during a robbery in 2013, was recovered by Springs police, in Casseldale, on Tuesday (March 31).

SAPS members were patrolling the area when they noticed a Toyota Tazz on the corner of Ermelo and Clydesdale Roads.

They stopped the vehicle and ordered the four occupants of the car to get out.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the SAPS members searched the vehicle and found two balaclavas and two 32″ flat screen TVs in the boot of the car.

They asked the suspects to provide proof of purchase for the TVs, but the men failed to produce any.

Ramphora says the police traced the vehicle’s engine number and found it was stolen during a robbery and break-in that took place in Mamelodi, in April 2013.

The four suspects were arrested and taken to the Springs police cells.

They will appear in court soon.
