Tankers on its way to Botswana

A Springs-based company is sending two 23 ton hot sumps to Botswana by road.

Two trucks departed from Butler Road in Nuffield on Monday.

The trucks were escorted by the Gauteng Traffic Police’s Abnormal Load Unit down Wit Road towards Nigel.

The mining group inspector Clifford Chiweshe says the route has been perfectly planned.

“We had to plan the best route to the border post,” he says.

Workshop manager Mike Victor says it took two weeks and a lot of man hours to build these two round sumps.

He says they have used 12mm thick mild steel to build the sumps.

The two sumps are destined for a mine in Selebi Phikwe in Botswana where they will be used in a water plant.

He claims it will take five days to reach the Zeerust Kopfontein Border Post in North West Province.
