The theme this year was Share Peace and participants had the opportunity to share their vision of peace with a painted poster.
Entries were judged on their creativity, colour and portrayal of the theme.
Gemma Rees walked away with the top honours and Dhasvir Sewnandan took the second spot. Both learners received a monetary prize whilst Gemma’s poster progressed to the district level to compete against other Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo province winners.
Janis van der Heiden, a member of the Benoni Van Rhyn club, says that children from over 200 countries across the world participate in the poster competition.
