Two businessmen offer 100 ton crane to assist Selpark CPF

Selpark CPF Exco members were surprised by the recent generous offer of two Brakpan businessmen to assist them to do much-needed maintenance work to the high radio mast in Selcourt Enclosure.

The 100 ton crane was lent to them by two Brakpan businessmen, Marius Cilliers and Henry Viljoen.

“Without their help it would not have been possible to reach the 25m high radio mast,” says Rory Goodal, Selpark CPF executive member.

The aim was to do maintenance and to lift the antenna 10m higher.

Rory says the higher antenna will improve the coverage of the radio repeater within the area.

With a man-basket attached, Rory was able to go up and down the

radio mast to lift the antenna.

The two businessmen also offered skilled and professional staff to assist with the antenna.

“It took approximately six hours to do the maintenance work and to relocate the antenna,” says Rory.

The purpose of the antenna is to receive radio signals from the CPF members from Selcourt and Selection Park.

They use the radios to report incidents of all kinds in an effort to reduce and combat crime in the community.

“It is a service to our members and it is important that medical and emergency assistance reaches them as quickly as possible.

“Thanks to Marius and Henry this is now possible, and we are truly grateful for the help,” says Rory.
