Late-night transport at new mall

The Springs Taxi Association has promised new customers at the Springs Mall that they will run transport until all stores and restaurants are closed at night.

The new mall is scheduled to open on March 16.

The chairperson of the Springs Taxi Association, Joseph Mazibuko, says they were approached by the management to offer their services to the new mall.

“We will be providing 62 taxis daily to the malls, which are roadworthy and have permits and identification.

“The taxis will rotate in two groups monthly.

“This will ensure that all the taxis are given a fair business opportunity.

“The taxis will be operating locally, in areas that include KwaThema, Duduza, Tsakane and Daveyton and Heidelberg.”

He adds that they will be providing transport until the mall closes.

“This will ensure that all our customers are catered for and will not be stranded in the middle of the night, especially those who work in restaurants,” he says.

He says that they reached an agreement with the management to be the only association operating on site.

“There will not be any competing association, which often leads to fights and murders.

“This will help us ensure that our members abide by the rules of the mall.

“We don’t want another association because we don’t want trouble. This is a local job and it will be done by a local association,” he says.

He adds that the association will have offices inside the mall.

“This will enable the customers to talk to us during office hours.
