Tshepo Phasha was sentenced for statutory rape in the Springs Magistrate’s Court last Monday.
The 25-year-old man received a suspended five years sentence for raping a 15-year-old girl in Gugulethu Informal Settlement on April 29.
SAPS spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says Phasha took the minor to a shack where he raped her three times.
“He only released the girl on April 30 and we arrested him the following day,” he says.
