Robbers empty out fridges

The wounded man was taken to hospital after being shot in the leg.

On Friday, during a house robbery in Daybreak Street in Largo, a 29-year-old man was shot in the leg.

At 9.30pm, the man and his mother were surprised by five suspects while the father was still asleep.

His father only woke up when the injured man’s mother started screaming.

Upon investigation, his father came face-to-face with three armed and two unarmed suspects.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the man’s father then heard a gunshot.

“He was taken to his wife and son, whom he found handcuffed in another room,” says Ramphora.

The injured man was bleeding from the gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Ramphora says the suspects took cash, two televisions, two sewing machines, a laptop, a computer hard drive and a computer screen.

The suspects also emptied two fridges of their contents.

They loaded everything into a gold Opel Cadet and left the scene.

“We are investigating a case of house robbery,” says Ramphora.
