Office workers in the Springs CBD were shocked recently to see young women bathing and changing their clothes in broad daylight.
Michelle Taljaard, who works as a receptionist in a nearby office, says, “This has been going on since December and it has gotten worse now.
“I saw these young girls who looked like they were between the ages of 14 and 15 were taking off their clothes and bathing right there.
“I was quite shocked and worried for the girls because they look quite young,” Taljaard says.
“My worry was that at the time these girls are most active, there are school children nearby.
“I can’t imagine that any woman would want to do that as a career, so I also worry for these young girls.”
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson, says, “The public haven’t reported it, but we urge them to get in touch as soon as the women are there.
“We need to know about this so we can do something about it.
“You can’t just take off your clothes in public, that’s illegal and it’s public indecency.”
According to Ramphora, the major challenge is that the women rotate their spots so it makes it more difficult to track them down.
That is why the public is urged to call as soon as they appear.
The Head of Response officer to call at the Springs Police Station is Col Doctor Mthimkhulu on 011 365 5700.
