Man scares off armed hijackers after they pointed a firearm at his four-month-old baby

A man shot at and chased off hijackers when they attempted hijacking his vehicle and pointed a firearm at his four-month-old child in Seder Road, Dal Fouche at 5.10pm on Saturday.

The 31-year-old man drove in to the family’s driveway with his wife in the passenger seat and baby in the back.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, the spokesperson for the Springs police, says when the man looked back to see if the gate was closing, he saw a silver/grey Audi A4 stopping in front of the gate.

“One of the men in the car jumped out and blocked the gate from closing with his hands.

“He then went to the passenger side and pointed a firearm at the man’s wife and instructed her to get out,” says Ramphora.

The suspect then went to the back door and pointed his firearm at the baby, who was in a baby-seat.

“The complainant immediately pulled out his licensed firearm and shot through the rear left window.”

Two other suspects came running, but the man shot at them through the back window.

All of the suspects ran back to the car and sped off.
