Strubenvale girls donate hair to Cansa

The hair will be used to make wigs for those suffering from cancer.

Sisters Ananda and Belinda O’Neil cut off their golden locks last Friday to donate to people suffering from cancer.

Ananda (12) chopped 37cm off, while Belinda (7) cut 34cm.

The idea for the big chop came from the pairs’ mother Yolandi O’Neill.

“It wasn’t hard to convince them to do this.

“The girls were going to get their hair cut and we thought why not make it into a good deed for others,” says Yolandi.

Belinda O’Neill is all smiles after her haircut.

The girls’ hair will be used to make wigs for cancer patients and the Christian Beyers learners hope to inspire other girls to do the same.

The minimum length to donate to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) is 25cm.

The O’Neill’s delivered the hair to the Alberton Cansa centre on Monday.
