Residents in Bakerton are shocked by the state of the cemetery.
They are complaining that the cemetery is not being maintained regularly, and sometimes the grass is left to grow very high before it is removed.
Ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin says: “The Bakerton Cemetery was enclosed in 1996/1997 financial year at my request when I was the ward councillor.

“About four years go the precast walling was repaired.
“It needs to be repaired again.
“The falling trees have once again damaged the precast walling.
“I am communicating with the cemetery department.
Previously the tombstones have been vandalised due to the easy access when the precast walls are breached.”
The metro had not responded at the time of the publication.
