Residents join hands to clean school

“We are calling on the residents with information to inform the police."

KwaThema – Members of the community, in collaboration with the Expanded Public Works (EPW) programme and Mbuso Development and Projects, volunteered to clean Theo Twala Primary School on Tuesday.

This was in preparation of the school re-opening to ensure the learners start their first day in a clean facility.

Team organiser Vusi Mahlangu says they decided to clean the school when they identified the state the school was in over the festive season.

“The grass was overgrown because of the continuous rainfalls in the area. We were concerned that the learners will be forced to learn in that environment.”

Vusi says this was the first leg of the initiative which will be carried out every semester.

“I believe we don’t always have to depend on government and have money to make the difference we want to see in our community.

“If we all join hands our children will become the best that they can be,” he says.
