Springs Old Boys beat Bonero 7-1 at home

The team enjoyed a brilliant start to the game, scoring their first goal within the first five minutes.

The Springs Old Boys u-9 League 5 team ran rings round Bonero on their home ground at Pollak Park on Saturday morning, beating the visitors 7-1.

The local side enjoyed a brilliant start to the game, scoring their first goal within the first five minutes.

Although the visitors pressed and eventually equalised, the home team led 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half, the old boys picked up where they left off and scored their third goal of the game almost immediately after kick-off.

Even when the strikers missed chances, they bounced back quickly and recovered from their mishap.

The fourth goal for the boys in green was a rebound off the crossbar and after that, the old boys never let up and kept up the pressure on the Kempton Park team’s defence.

Coach Chris Robinson was particularly pleased with how the team has gelled over the past games.

“Our team is a combination of u-7, u-8 and u-9 boys and they have really come together.

“It’s still early days, but they are full of joy when they play,” says Robinson.

Even with the win, the old boys can still improve their game.

Both teams struggled with getting the technique right for throw-ins and were penalised several times during the game.

The Springs players will now wait to find out who their opponents are for next week’s game.
