Nurses celebrate International Nurses Day at Life Springs Parkland Hospital

“Each and every nurse has a voice and you must make a difference, use your voice as a means to influence not only your colleagues but also your patients, families and even your communities,” says Muller.

Life Springs Parkland Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on Friday morning.

Nurses from different departments gathered to observe the special day and acknowledge their hard work.

Hospital manager Cora Muller, a former nurse, says nurses are continually challenged to learn, not only about the latest technology but also the trends and changes in treatments of diseases.

“As a nurse, you provide direct patient care, you collaborate with doctors in the performance of treatments and examinations, you administer medication, you console and must be prepared for all these roles.

“The nurses day theme is A Voice to Lead and I want you to take a few moments to think what this means to you as a nurse because with this statement comes a huge responsibility.

“Each and every nurse has a voice and you must make a difference, use your voice as a means to influence not only your colleagues but also your patients, families and even your communities.

“People may not remember exactly what you did or what you do, but they will always remember how you made them feel,” says Muller.

Muller went on to thank the nurses for caring for their patients and for making life better for all of them.

“I know you experience challenges on a daily basis, but you keep on smiling and for that I honour you today.

“May this celebration be a small token of our appreciation as management of Life Springs Parkland Hospital,” says Muller.
