Cow struck on Tonk Meter Road

A man was driving a sedan on his way home when the cow crossed the road; the man had no time to react.

 

A cow was struck on Tonk Meter Road last Thursday afternoon.

A man was driving a sedan on his way home when the cow crossed the road; the man had no time to react.

The driver was unhurt, but the cow was killed.

The EMPD were on site, as well as Springs CPF chairperson Barend van Heerden, who says the driver plans on suing the owner of the cow for the damage it has caused to his car.

Van Heerden says: “It is really unacceptable that this is happening all the time.

“People’s lives are being put at risk.”

Wandering cattle crossing the road is a regular problem in Springs, and this is not the first time this has happened.
