Joy at Jacob’s Farm

The event was a joyful occasion with singing, passionate and inspiring speeches and many residents joining in singing and dancing.

As part of Mandela Day, Springs police, McDonald’s and Springs Mall partnered up to help residents in Jacob’s Farm on Thursday.

Jacob’s Farm is in an extremely remote area on the outskirts of Springs, and many residents there have no electricity.

A small JoJo tank is their only water supply and they lack many basic services, such as ambulances and fire trucks.

Community safety members, the Springs police and other parties involved delivered inspiring speeches.

McDonald’s offered happy meals to the children, while Springs Mall gave bundles of clothes, blankets and grocery packs to each household.

Hlampo Community Projects dished out pap.

Amanda Greyber, Springs SAPS spokesperson, says: “We want these people to feel that, although they are remote, we have not forgotten about them and never will.

“They deserve our help as much as anyone else.”
