Woman loses car after Selourt break-in

The suspect then asked why didn't she answer the buzzer when they pressed it.

A Selcourt woman was rudely awakened by suspects in Selcourt last Saturday evening.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim heard a load banging sound at the back door and when she ran to the kitchen she saw an unknown man there.

The victim then ran back to her bedroom and pressed the panic button and hid behind the bed.

One suspect came into the room and switched the light on.

He had two crowbars and a firearm with him.

He then asked for her cellphone, which she handed over, and also asked if there was a safe in the house, which there wasn’t.

The suspect then asked why didn’t she answer the buzzer when they pressed it.

She didn’t answer and he then said she must keep quiet and stay in the room.

Later when it was quiet she came out of the bedroom and discovered the TV and her car were gone.

Suspects forcefully opened the sliding gate, small security gate and the door to gain entry to the house.

No shots were fired during the robbery.
